Crocodiles have existed for 220 million years and they have fascinated mankind since the dawn of time. Luc Fougeirol has been fascinated by crocodiles since childhood. After working many years in various zoos, he brought home his first caiman, found on a trip to French Guyana, and kept it in a pond under the greenhouses of his farmer-father. Shortly after, he added tropical plants and other crocodile species. In 1994 in Pierrelate, Luc and his brother opened their Crocodile Farm. This is the biggest heated glass-house in Europe and visitors can see here crocodiles from Africa, Asia, Australia and South America. Its success as a tourist destination has allowed Luc to campaign for more awareness and conservation of crocodiles. His commitment to the cause has earned him a good reputation among crocodile experts and scientists all over the world.
